We are right into November. The heat here in Livingstone is blistering hot, which makes life very uncomfortable. We can’t complain when you consider the living conditions of many of the locals who live in little hot boxes with corrugated iron rooves without insulation..
NOT SUCH GOOD NEWS FOR ZAMBIA:
Just recently the UK and many other European countries froze all foreign aid into Zambia because of corruption allegations. The following week fuel prices, food prices, transport costs went up. At the end of the day the people are suffering, living in a third world country paying first world prices for things such as food, fuel, communication etc. All the more reason why they need our help. ..
GRACELIFE CHURCH PLANT:
The Church plant is moving along steadily. I must admit we came here thinking it would be easy to plant a Church in Africa. Well that certainly hasn’t been the case! There are numerous challenges and anyone who thinks that Church planting is easy in Africa has no understanding of the culture or the challenges on the ground. We have
Life Groups up and running, an amazing Children’s Church and a Kidz Club program which we run from our house on Wednesday afternoons with about 60 children in attendance. We are starting another Kidz club program in another community as soon as we can secure a venue..
Since the last newsletter we have completed a very successful soccer league competition. This competition showed us the potential we have to impact hundreds of young people in various sporting codes. Next year the establishment of sporting fixtures and the improving of sports grounds will be one of our major projects. In a community struggling with poverty due to unemployment, sport is a great hope builder and keeps the young people occupied and away from alcohol and drugs. Thanks to the Bushney and Chambers families Australia for sponsoring the tournament.
KIDZ CLUB PROJECT:
We have launched a children’s program with about sixty children. We have an amazing lady running this program. These children get fed with something to eat and drink. Our objective is to run these Kidz Club programs in every community around Livingstone.
We are now ready to start a second Kidz Club program and are desperately trying to find a suitable venue for the program.
We have just completed the renovating of a school hall, which was in desperate need of repair. By doing this project we were able to provide work for six unemployed locals. Ex-students from the school dating back to the sixties commended us for our efforts.Thank you GraceLife Perth and Rabb Family Zambia for your kind donation towards the upgrading.
After three months of solid fund raising we are in a position to purchase our first Community bus thanks to many of our dearest friends who have rallied behind us. Hopefully next News Letter we will have a photo of the bus.
For Judy and I to do what we are doing we need people to partner with us. Partnering with us means linking our hands and hearts of compassion together to Transform our concern into Actionto make lasting improvements in the lives of so many people devastated by poverty.
There are so many ways you can support us:
You can make a one off donation
You can support us monthly
You can do a fundraiser.
